Athletics

By state statute, High School Charter School students may participate in athletics at the high school in the regular attendance area. Participants in these activities are a choice and not a requirement of the school. Remember the mission of the school is college attendance and science and math preparation. Most high schools have athletic class during the last period of the day to accommodate practice and competition. AIMS has no such class; all classes are academic. As a result, AIMS will not give early dismissal to student athletes to attend practice. AIMS will allow up to four absences per year to allow for student athlete participation in sporting events providing the student is in good standing and has not exceeded ten absences per year.
